Member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has made his views known on the much touted Madagascan medicine meant to cure the novel coronavirus, noting that he awaits a scientific opinion after trials.

“I have no opinion on this Madagascan medicine for Coronavirus, except it keeps going viral as a cure. What I want to see is scientific opinion on it after trials,” he tweeted.

Last month, Madagascan President Andry Rajoelina publicly endorsed and launched a herbal remedy, COVID-Organics,  that he stated prevents and cures the novel coronavirus disease.Suggested News

Since then, many African countries have imported the herbal concoction even though no definite scientific opinion has been given as proof that the remedy can treat and cure the disease.

“The plant was first imported into the island nation in the 1970s from China to treat malaria.

It is now marketed in bottles as a herbal tea, while Rajoelina has said clinical trials are under way in Madagascar to produce a form that can be injected into the body,” according to a report by Aljazeera.
